Hollywood -- Booth Colman, who stars as Zaius, the presiding orangutan in 20th Century-Fox Television’s “Planet of the Apes” series for CBS-TV, originally planned to become an archeologist.   He majored in Oriental studies at the universities of Washington and Michigan, and during World War II, he served in the Japanese Language Corps of the U.S. Army.
