ANSA astronauts Colonel Alan Virdon and Major Peter Burke arrive on the Planet of the Apes, courtesy of an elegant starship, and clad in some stylish flightsuits. It seems reasonable to assume that there would also have been an emergency survival kit—or kits—somewhere on board their vessel. After all, the astronauts in the original 1967 production of “Planet of the Apes” had at least three such items, and given that dozens (if not hundreds) of props from the 1967 movie appear in the TV series, it is logical to assume that the original backpacks were still in storage somewhere on the Fox lot in 1974, and would have been available to the TV series’ production team. If such items were ever issued to our heroes, however, we never see them.
